King: The One in charge

  1. Without a King I become my own king.

“In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.” Judges 21:25 NLT (See also 17:6, 18:1)

2. Without a King I am wise in my own eyes.

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.” Proverbs 3:7 NIV

3. Without a King I am lost and on a destructive path.

“There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12 NASB 95

4. Without a King I have no accountability.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV

5. Without a King I can easily turn on others. (Judges 20)

6. With a king Israel still failed (Deuteronomy 17:14-20)

7. With the real King I have everlasting hope.

“On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.” Revelation 21:16 NIV
