Disciple=Student, Learner, Apprentice
“A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.” Luke 6:40 ESV
Learn how to think, act, and speak like Jesus
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 ESV
How do I do this?
I arrange my life around the same priorities and practices He modeled
- He expects my life to bear good fruit
“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” John 15:8 ESV
Inner and Outer Fruit= Love, Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
How do I bear good fruit?
I need to Abide in Him.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” John 15:4 ESV
- Abide in His word (John 8:31)
- Abide in prayer (Matthew 6:6))
- Abide Obedience (John 15:10)
- Abide in fellowship (Matthew 18:20)
