“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV

Life hurts

“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” John 16:33 CSB

God heals

“And the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you.” John 14:26 YLT

Suffering Produces

  1. The ability to comfort others

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NASB

  • A reliance on God instead of self

“Indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,” 2 Corinthians 1:9 NASB

  • Thankfulness in all things

“…if you also join in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons in our behalf for the favor granted to us through the prayers of many.” 2 Corinthians 1:11 NASB

When you are hurting

  • Receive the comfort of the Comforter

“…God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles…” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT

  • Learn from your hurt

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:3-5 NLT

  • Comfort others

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NASB

“But God, who comforts the discouraged, comforted us by the arrival of Titus;” 2 Corinthians 7:6 NASB
