“Live life, then, with a due sense of responsibility, not as men who do not know the meaning and purpose of life but as those who do. Make the best use of your time, despite all the difficulties of these days.” Ephesians 5:15-16 Philipps
“Time is the stuff life is made of.” Benjamin Franklin
The truth about time:
- Time is consistent
- Time is limited
- Time is either being spent wisely or it’s being wasted
How to seize the day:
1.Remind yourself daily that there is a limited allotment of time in your life’s account
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 NIV
“A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” Job 14:5 NIV
2. Celebrate each day as a gift from God
“This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 NASB
3. Arrange your day around what matters most (What would Jesus say is most important?)
Eternally
- Is the Kingdom of God getting the best of my time? (Matthew 6:33)
- Am I spending quality time getting to know Jesus better? (John 17:3)
- Are my loved ones getting the best of my time? (John 13:34-35)
Practically
- Am I living responsibly and with integrity concerning my time?
- There is a difference between having enough time to do what we want to do and having enough time to do we need to do.
“If you do what you ought to do, when you should do it, then you can do what you want to do when you want to do it.” Zig Ziglar
4. Live present in each moment
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV
- Chronos (Titus 1:2): Time as a measurable resource
- Kairos (Ephesians 5:16): An opportune time
- Instead of viewing time as the clock ticking or sands through the hour glass, view each day as an opportunity to be seized.
