Titus 3

“Do this in remembrance of Me.” Jesus

WHAT DO WE NEED TO BE REMINDED OF?

  • Remember that He came for us

“But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,” Titus 3:4

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men… And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-3, 14

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10

  • Remember that He saved us

“He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy,” Titus 3:5a

  • Remember that He lives in us by His Holy Spirit

“by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,” Titus 3:5b-6

  • Remember that He set our relationship with God right

“so that being justified by His grace…” Titus 3:7a

  • Remember we are co-heirs with Him

“we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:7b

  • Remember how to live in light of the Good News

Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men. For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another…This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men… Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.” Titus 3:1-3, 8, 14
