“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 NIV

In a focus group of 50 people, 95 years or older, were asked:

“If you had the chance to do your life over…what would you do different”?

The overwhelming response was they would have:

REFLECTED MORE, RISKED MORE, AND REACHED HIGHER

  1. Reflect more

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3 NIV

  • On Jesus: Purpose, priorities, perspective
    What matters most?
  • On life: Slow down
What am I doing with my time and why am I doing it?
  • Risk more

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” Psalm 27:1 NLT

  • Fear of failure, uncertainty, people

“Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. Keep asking questions. Keep making mistakes. Keep seeking God. Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past and start creating the future. Stop playing it safe and start taking risks. Expand your horizons. Accumulate experiences. Enjoy the journey. Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can. Live like today is the first day and last day of your life. Don’t let what’s wrong with you keep you from worshiping what’s right with God. Burn sinful bridges. Blaze new trails. Criticize by creating. Worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks. Don’t try to be who you’re not. Be yourself. Laugh at yourself. Don’t let fear dictate your decisions. Quit holding back. Quit running away. And if God is for us who can be against us?” Mark Batterson

  • Reach higher (Do something that outlives your life)

“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:14 NLT
