Domino #1: Deception

How To Avoid The Pitfalls Of Old?

  • Flee that which corrupts the mind and soul

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 NIV

“Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.” 1 Corinthians 10:14 NIV

“But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.” 1 Timothy 6:9-11 NASB 95

Guard your heart

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Vs.23

Guard your mouth

Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Vs. 24

Guard your eyes

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Vs. 25

Guard your path


Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. VS.26-27

Guard your thought-life

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
