We believe that Jesus Christ is the meaning and the point of life who provides our hope and identity; therefore, we exist to make and grow devoted followers of Him.
We believe the ancient creed known as “The Apostles’ Creed” provides a common framework that guides our teaching, navigates us towards unity with Jesus’ followers past, present and future, and guards against false teaching. Recognizing changes in terminology throughout history, the creed we hold to is:
We believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, Christ’s holy church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.
Amen.
OUR VISION
To be a thriving, modern expression of the early church – modeling how they lived in genuine community and impacted the world around them.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42-47 NIV
OUR CONVICTIONS
We are convinced that God wants us to live:
Biblically
We are convinced that the Bible is God’s unique revelation to people. It is the inspired, infallible Word of God, and the supreme and final authority on all matters upon which it teaches. No other writings are vested with such divine authority.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
Relationally
In the New Testament, the Greek word “Al-lay-loan”is translated into two English words “one another”. “One another” is used 94 times in the New Testament. The “one anothers” are the Bible’s directives for how we are to love, treat, and get along with each other. The following verses are just a few of those directives.
“Love one another…” John 13:35 NIV “Serve one another…” Galatians 5:13 NIV
“Carry one another’s burdens…” Galatians 6:2 NIV
“Forgive one another…” Ephesians 4:32 NIV
“Encourage one another…” Hebrews 10:25 NIV
“Pray for one another…” James 5:16 NIV
“Be hospitable with one another…” 1 Peter 4:9 NIV
Missionally
We are convinced that Jesus has commissioned us to bear witness to His Good News in our city, with our neighbors, and to all the world.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NIV
“…As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” John 20:21 NLT
“He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38 NIV
OUR VALUES
Our approach to doing church and what shapes our culture as a community is guided by these four values:
- Authenticity
- Simplicity
- Liberty
- Relevancy
