“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NASB 95
To Rediscover Church As A Mission We Need To
- Accept our assignment
“As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.” John 17:18 NASB 95
“…as the Father has sent Me I also send you.” John 20:21 NASB 95
2. Activate His power
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…” Acts 1:8a NIV
3. Adjust our approach
“…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:8b NASB 95
- Every believer must believe that Jesus was talking to them when He said: “I send you.”
- Leaders must train and equip believers to do the work of the ministry. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
- Start at home (Jerusalem/Judea = Where you live)
- Be willing to go to places you don’t want to go (Samaria)
- Everyone participates in world missions (Some send some go)
4. Abandon ourselves to God Himself and His mission in the world.
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 NASB 95
