“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.” Galatians 5:24-26 NLT

What Is Jealousy?

  • It is resentingGod’s goodness in other’s lives, while ignoringHis goodness in my own life

Where Does It Come From?

“What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?” James 4:1 NLT

  • Comparing
  • Competing

Why Is It Deadly?

  • It leads to other sins

“For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.” James 3:16 NLT

  • It makes you sick

“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” Proverbs 14:30 NLT

How To Rid Your Heart Of Jealousy:

  1. Be about your own purpose and calling not the purpose and calling of others

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalm 139:13-16 NLT

  1. Be a God pleaser

“Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.” Galatians 1:10 NLT

  1. Be grateful for what you have rather than worrying about what you do not have

“Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless—like chasing the wind.” Ecclesiastes 6:9 NLT

“I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.” Philippians 4:11 NLT

  1. Be ready to walk in love

“Love is not jealous or boastful or proud” 1 Corinthians 13:4 NLT
