“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24 NIV 

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Matthew 24:35 ESV 

“If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 HCSB

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” Colossians 3:16 ESV 

How do I build my life on the Bible?

  • I must choose it as the authority of my life

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so  that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV 

“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.” Psalm 19:7-11 NIV

  • I must make it the priority of my life

“Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation,” 1 Peter 2:2 AMP

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” James 1:19-25 NIV

  • Receive it by faith (Romans 10:17),
  • Read it with expectancy (2 Timothy 3:16-17),
  • Study it diligently (2 Timothy 2:15),
  • Meditate on it daily (Psalm 1:2),
  • Memorize it (Psalm 119:11),
  • Respond to it in obedience (James 1:22)
  • I must trust it to be the stability of my life

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
