March 2018

Temptation is something every person deals with. How to overcome it is a major battle for every believer. Thankfully, God has given us all we need for life and godliness in Jesus.
In Genesis 3 Adam and Eve were tempted to question God’s word, ”Did God really say…?” And question His character, ”God knows if you eat from it you will be like Him.” These are the two roots of all temptations.
Hebrews 4:15-16: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
In this series we will look at different characters in the Bible and see how how they were tempted to question God’s word, and question His character. We will search the Gospels and see how Jesus handled temptations so we will know how to do battle with them ourselves.
Our key verse for the series:
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
