This stanza of Psalm 119 is rich with the protecting nature of God’s love and implies that he protects our lives because he wants us to know Him through His Word. He is our refuge and shield, he sustains us, he rescues us, his strength holds us up, and he protects our lives. Can you point to a time in your life that God has protected you, rescued you, given you strength, or filled you with hope? Remember and respond as the author of this Psalm; learn about him by getting familiar with His word. Doing so will produce the true experience of the last verse in this stanza. Not a run away fear of God but an awesome/breathtaking fear that comes while standing at the very edge of the rim of the Grand Canyon.
